Alison Clifford is an artist based in Glasgow, Scotland, working across experimental animation, moving image, and interactive media. Her practice explores the interstitial – or the in-between – through digital processes of translation, where meaning emerges and shifts as images are translated across systems, media, and forms.

Her work spans audiovisual installation and moving image, examining how images transform and are reconfigured through acts of mediation. She has exhibited internationally at major new media and electronic art festivals. Her work has received numerous awards and commissions, including a BAFTA nomination for interactive media, a commission from San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and inclusion in the Electronic Literature Collection.

She holds a PhD from the Glasgow School of Art, an MA in Digital Art from the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, and an MA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh. Alongside her practice, she teaches experimental animation and moving image practice, and is a Reader in Digital Art at the University of the West of Scotland.
